The Lord's Discourse GOALS AND IDEALS ॐ श्री परमात्मने नमः । अथ षष्ठोऽध्यायः Salutations to the Lord. Now the 6th Chapter commences The sabda श्री is a title, a prefix that is a respectful form of address. It signifies here the quality of Wealth, the quality of Abundance. Wealth meaning strength, intelligence, brilliance and resourcefulness. Sri may be used to address any gender. श्री भगवान् उवाच The Good Lord said अनाश्रितः कर्मफलम् , कार्यं कर्म करोति यः । स सन्न्यासी च योगी च , न निरग्निर्न चाक्रियः ॥ १ "sriibhagavaan uvaaca anaa"srita.h karmaphalam, kaarya.m karma karoti ya.h | sa sannyaasii ca yogii ca, na niragnirna caakriya.h || 1 The one who performs action that is enjoined, and at the same time is not hankering after its results - that one is a Sannyasin and a Yogin. Just someone who does not perform rituals, or who is not engaged in day to day duties - is not a sannyasi, nor a yogi. योगी yogi. A practitioner. An aspirant. A devotee. A master. A child. a brilliant Student, Player, Artist. An enlightened being. A noble human being. A great man or woman. The words sannyasi and yogi are used to describe high ideals by the Lord. These words evoke a sense of perfection in a common man. The Lord is beginning the chapter with emphasis on what one should aim for. And he is defining the same succinctly |
