The Bhagavad Gita श्रीमद् भगवद् गीता
Verse 1.3
Bhagavad Gita Verse 1.3
पश्यैतां पाण्डुपुत्राणामाचार्य महतीं चमूम् ।
व्यूढां द्रुपदपुत्रेण तव शिष्येण धीमता ।।
one of the earliest marketing forays by man. This verse is a direct advertisement.
if you are a TV watcher, you might have experienced there is no escape from Ads. if you are using apps for your smartphone, this is no different. And if you have bought anything from amazon or flipkart the advertisements are there.
And just drive thru town. You would be flooded with billboards of all sorts.
Marketing. Advertisement. Sales pitch. What is it? Why is it needed? Can we live without it? Give it some thoughts.
Maybe you yourself are in marketing or have done advertising? Why are you doing it? Do you like it when it is done to you?
At this time in the current age most of us would not buy any product or service without advertisement.
This verse gives a fundamental ingredient of marketing. Praise the client first and then the product. Wonderous, isn't it?
तव शिष्येण धीमता
Your intelligent pupil.
when we say that, we mean that 'you are brilliant and you have handcrafted an intelligent prodigy'.
पश्येताम् आचार्य
Look ! O Teacher
a statement made full of wonder, excitement, awe.
a statement giving respect to the client and at the same time engendering admiration in the client.
पाण्डुपुत्राणाम् महतीं चमूम्
of the Sons of Pandu
the Great Army.
the Formidable Troops,
the Battle-ready Soldiers.
a statement eulogising the hardwork and focus and commitment of the client and also the magnificience of the product.
व्यूढां द्रुपदपुत्रेण
geometry by Drupada's son,
precise structure created by son of Drupada,
a crystalline array, a matrix, a proper placement of men and machines.
here Drupada is the king of Punjab state of India. His son is the reigning heir of Punjab, and is the brother of Draupadi.
Draupadi represents the Will and the Collective Conscience of the Pandavas. She represents the Engine that harnesses and powers the team strength.
